The Steps

The process is guided by the following Organizing Principles:

  • Establish an environment of openness and transparency
  • Maintain fidelity with RBA process and agreed-upon timelines
  • Seek broad-based community input throughout process
  • Focus on identifying and leveraging community strengths/assets
  • Use creativity in building solutions to meet neighborhood-specific challenges
  • Align public understanding, support, and will to act to address poverty
  • Drive implementation and sustainability

    Identify target neighborhoods using analysis of range of poverty-related indicators at the census tract level (complete)

    Assess current conditions/trends (in process through Community Member Survey);

    Plan P4P Summit with P4P core leadership team;

  • 4

    Recruit members of Community Revitalization Task Force;

    Hold P4P Summit;
    -Roll out P4P (demonstrate city/county/CBO commitment)
    -Discuss community survey results/analysis, current state
    -Establish P4P process and timeline (seek community buy-in, consensus)
    -Define the problems/core policy areas that need to be addressed

    Identify assets/threats/opportunities (CRTF, post-summit);

    Identify anti-poverty goals and key benchmarks of success (city/county level);

    Examine how other similar communities have addressed similar problems;

    Identify policy/budget/program recommendations to support city/county level goals;
